# Limy MCP Server

Connect Limy to Claude, Cursor, and any other MCP-compatible AI client.

The Limy MCP server lets AI assistants read your Limy data directly, so you can ask questions about your AI search visibility in plain language instead of switching to the dashboard.

It is built on the [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io), an open standard for connecting AI applications to external systems. Any MCP-compatible client can connect.

**Endpoint:** `https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp`

### What you can do with it

Once connected, you can ask your assistant about the brands you track in Limy and it will pull live data to answer. Typical questions:

* How does my brand's visibility in AI answers compare with my competitors this month?
* Which topics and prompts is Limy tracking for my account?
* Which sources are cited most often in answers about a given topic?
* How has my visibility trended over the last 30 days, and how does it differ by AI platform?

Your assistant discovers what it can do automatically when it connects — there is nothing to configure beyond signing in.

### Before you start

You need:

* A **Limy user** with access to at least one account.
* An **MCP-compatible AI client**. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants support remote MCP servers; check your client's documentation if you are unsure.

### Connect

Add the endpoint below to your client, then complete the sign-in prompt.

```
https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp
```

You will be redirected to Limy to sign in and approve access. Once approved, your assistant can start answering questions about your data.

#### Claude

1. Open **Settings → Connectors**.
2. Choose **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter the URL `https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp` and confirm.
4. Click **Connect** and sign in to Limy when prompted.

#### Claude Code

Run:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http limy https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp
```

Then run `/mcp` and authorize **limy** to sign in.

#### Cursor

Add Limy to your MCP configuration:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "limy": {
      "url": "https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Reload the window, then sign in to Limy when prompted.

#### ChatGPT

A custom MCP server is added as a **custom app** through **Developer mode**.

For a **Business/Enterprise/Edu** plans:

1. Make sure you’re a workspace **Admin or Owner**. On Business, regular members currently can’t add custom MCP apps themselves.
2. Open **Workspace settings → Apps → Create**. You can enable Developer mode from there. Depending on the UI, you may also see it under **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode**.
3. Choose to create a custom app and enter your MCP server’s **remote endpoint** and metadata.
4. Select authentication if needed — for example OAuth.
5. Click **Scan Tools**. ChatGPT connects to the MCP server and discovers the tools it exposes.
6. Click **Create**. The MCP app should then appear with a **Dev** label, and you can select it from the tools/apps menu in a new chat.

#### Other clients

Limy uses **Streamable HTTP** transport with **OAuth 2.0**. Most clients need only the server URL:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "limy": {
      "url": "https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Clients that support Dynamic Client Registration will register automatically — there is no client ID or secret to create.

### Authentication and access

Limy uses **OAuth 2.0**. You sign in through Limy in your browser — your assistant never sees or stores your password.

**You only ever see your own data.** The connection is scoped to the Limy accounts your user has access to.

**The Limy MCP server is read-only.** It can look up and analyse your data, but it cannot create, change or delete anything in your Limy account.

### Data and privacy

* Your assistant receives only the data returned in response to your questions — the same data available to you in the Limy dashboard.
* Limy does not receive or store your conversations with your assistant.
* Access can be revoked at any time by removing the connector in your client, or by removing the user's access in Limy.

### Troubleshooting

#### The connection fails or asks me to sign in repeatedly

Access tokens are short-lived and refresh automatically. If sign-in loops, remove the connector, add it again using `https://mcp.limy.ai/mcp`, and re-authorize. Check that the URL ends in `/mcp`.

#### My assistant says it cannot find my brand

The connector only reaches accounts your Limy user has access to. Confirm you are signed in with the right account, and that your user has access to that brand in Limy.

If you were granted access recently, disconnect and reconnect so your permissions refresh.

#### My assistant does not list Limy's capabilities

Capabilities are discovered at connection time. Reload or restart your client, then reconnect. If the connector shows as disconnected, re-authorize it.

#### I am getting rate limited

You are sending more than 2 requests per second. Wait a moment and retry — most clients do this for you. If it persists during normal use, contact support.
